Endocrinology is the specialty of Internal Medicine which deals with over and underproduction of hormones - substances produced in one gland that work in other areas of the body.

The best known disease of this type is Diabetes Mellitus - a deficiency in insulin. We deal with intensive diabetes control, insulin pumps, and diabetic pregnancies. Other Endocrinology diseases involve the thyroid - both under and over-active, as well as growths in the thyroid; Calcium problems, such as osteoporosis and kidney stones, and parathyroid abnormalities are included, as well as difficulties with excess cholesterol levels, and problems with hair growth.
